1. How to read this ad?

Step 1. Record a header (1 recording)

One audio recording with the following information:

  1. Store name
  2. Dates the specials are valid
  3. Date of recording

Sample text:
“Sprouts’ Deals of the Month. Specials are valid from July 24th to August 20th. Recorded on July 24th.”

Step 2. Record the flyer page by page (1 recording per page)

This flyer has no sections and page boundaries are indistinguishable, therefore we suggest reading 10 - 15 items in one recording to make it manageable. This unit of 10-15 products in one audio file corresponds to the notion of “page” mentioned in the steps below.

TIP
You certainly create smaller “pages” by adding only similar items to a recording. For example, produce will be one audio file, vitamins another; meats, beverages, and dessert into yet another, etc.

It is perfectly fine if an audio file is only a couple of seconds long.

With that said, here’s the general contents of a recording:

  1. Page number
    e.g., “Page 7.”

  2. Short summary of items on the page
    e.g., “fruits, cereals, pre-cooked food, beverages”

  3. Items listed on the page
    See section 2. How to read the items for general tips.

  4. “End of page.”

Repeat the steps above for each page. For example, if the flyer has 16 pages then you should end up with 17 recordings (1 recording for each page plus the header recording in Step 1 above).
